Birchwood Community High School (BCHS) is a Business & Enterprise College with Applied Learning Specialism.

The school is a successful 11 – 19 mixed comprehensive which sits at the heart of its community. BCHS have very high standards and ambitions for all the young people who attend the school and firmly believe they can meet their needs and aspirations. The school motto is Pride in our School and BCHS feel the Birchwood community has a local school with a national reputation of which it can be justifiably proud. specialisms in Business & Enterprise and Applied Learning enable all learners to develop enterprise capabilities and employability skills and close links with local business allow all learners access to a wide curriculum and a range of work-related learning opportunities.

Birchwood College, the brand new, state of the art, post 16 learning centre, opened to the first students in September 2010, offering a range of options, both vocational and academic, giving great opportunities for students to realise their potential. These vary from a large array of applied learning courses including Business, Sport, ICT, Public Services and Society Health and Development, to traditional A levels including English, Performing Arts, Sciences, PE, Law and Psychology.

BCHS are committed to providing high quality education in a stimulating environment and this has led to significant developments on site to ensure that the school offers up to date facilities and resources for learners and sixth form students. The new purpose built Performing Arts Centre, provides a flexible performing space, dance studio, practice rooms and a dedicated recording studio, opened in September 2010, alongside Birchwood College. There are extensive sporting facilities, including the Sports Hall and gym and a state of the art, full-size artificial pitch. The school also have excellent conference facilities available.

All these facilities are designed to give maximum support to learners in their academic study but are also available for hire to members of the community outside of school hours (although our conference rooms can be booked during the school day). the school also host a monthly Business Breakfast event which allows members of the local business community to meet informally and exchange ideas.
